Kate Egan stripping a chair

My name is Kate and I am an AMUSF* qualified upholsterer in traditional and modern techniques. Ever since I can remember, I have been drawn to old furniture and the potential it holds. I love giving old chairs a new lease of life, restoring them to their former glory, and making them relevant again.

I love creating statement pieces that become a focal point in the home. It is incredibly rewarding to take a tired and dated chair and transform it into something unique and beautiful.

My work is not just about aesthetics; it’s also about sustainability. In a world where waste is becoming an increasingly pressing issue, I feel it is important to do my part. By repurposing old furniture and using sustainable materials, I am able to reduce waste and create pieces that have a smaller environmental impact.

One of my favourite aspects of reupholstery is working with clients to bring their ideas to life. Whether it is incorporating a particular fabric or working within a specific budget, I enjoy the challenge of finding creative solutions that meet my client’s needs.

I feel incredibly fortunate to do something that I love, and that allows me to express my creativity while also making a positive impact on the environment. There is something very special about being able to breathe new life into an old piece of furniture.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me and my work. If you have a project you would like to discuss please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
